The New York State Autism Mandate requires all state-regulated health carrier plans to cover ABA treatment for all individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The law covers services provided by (or supervised by) a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and does not affect or influence services provided on a school district sponsored IEP. This mandate finally came to fruition, and thanks to Governor Cuomo (and the many other representatives that have approved this mandate into law), families now receive the help that they need.
At this time, VBS accepts the following health insurance carriers:
The Empire Plan (NYSHIP), Beacon Health Options, Oxford, United Healthcare, GHI, MVP, Emblem, and Fidelis (Child Health Plus).
We are also approved providers through TRICARE, the Department of Defense’s health insurance carrier. Their coverage program offers access to ABA services for all children of military personnel.
